The subject of my photo essay is and worn down buildings and how history remains, because a lot of these buildings are still there from when the Weir was still being developed. I took these photos in the Weir in Taunton.
I selected this place because my dance studio is on the other side of most of these buildings. It is significant to me because from my point of view I see the nicer parts newer parts of the Weir so I decided to explore the other side of the Weir that I usually don't see even though I spend a lot of time there.
The concept i'm trying to portray is urban decay like I stated before, and most of the buildings in the Weir are original buildings from the 1800's which helps portray the concept.
Visually the pictures capture the story because in the pictures it shows old original buildings that are worn down and vandalized but they still remain there.
I arranged the photos so that there is always a road in one of the pictures that "leads" to the next photo even though they don't line up if you read into it you can see that there is always a road connecting the buildings.
I think the strongest photo is the photo of the brick building and the street light where the point of view is down looking up at the building at a slight angle.
The composition of the photo is the point of view from the street looking up, and it is at a slight angle making the building look more interesting.
